  1. Dale-Jaime M says:

the dvd recorder means that you can record the tv to a dvd but a player by itself means that you can only watch dvds

  2. Brent B says:

Dvd recorder can record movies and player only plays them

  3. Marky says:

You can watch DVDs on either, but only record (like a video recorder) on a DVD recorder.

  4. Gem* says:

Yes you can watch dvds on a dvd recorder!!! You can record things on your dvd but not on a normal dvd player.

  5. Buddy says:

    Go for the DVD recorder

  6. jamand says:

One plays DVD’s and the other plays and records from TV?cable/satellite.

DVD recorder will do both jobs.

  7. Alex E says:

    wot Dale-Jaime M said.

    errr……. for real… !

    ok.

you can record & play on a recorder but you can only play on a player.

  9. Noorie says:

dvd player is when u watch dvds on it…. but a dvd recorder is when you record stuff

  10. Popester14 says:

A Dvd player will just PLAY dvd’s.

On a recorder you can watch your dvd’s you’ve bought or buy blank discs and record stuff off the tv.

I had a dvd recorder, it broke after a lot of use, it was good for recording from a video camera too.

  11. Rachel P says:

dvd players only play dvds, recorders you can watch or record from the tv

  12. Vee says:

DVD recorders will still let you watch DVDs but a standard DVD player won’t let you record.

take time to read your question well…. there you go,you got the answer!

  14. joshofthewhite says:

    1. they both play dvd’s
    2. a dvd player will be better quality for the money (eg. youd have to pay more for a recorder of the same quality)
    3. I’d purchase a recorder, as its handy – like a modern day VCR theres now the option of HD, but a HD recorder is expensive!
all in all its what you want at the end of day. check for the cheapest deals

  15. william l says:

the dvd recorder is just like the video recorder play and record if u read the box it will tell u what u can do

  16. migdalski_2000 says:

A player will only play back a DVD. A recorder should record AND play back. I’ve never heard of and suspect that there isn’t a machine which will ONLY record – what would be the point? How could you check it had recorded properly if you couldn’t play it back?

  17. mitchy says:

well, both can play dvd’s jst the same. a normal DVD player will jst play dvds, cds an such. A dvd recorder can do the same as a normal DVD player but also copy dvds for u,,u can watch something on TV an record it to the dvd so u can view it later. The better choice is a dvd recorder as it has more options with it and if u ever need to record something u can do so. If u dunt record much off tv den a VCR wud be fine thats if u have one..if not den maby the recorder is a better option for you. Price wise i think there iz big difference buh im sure it has dropped or soon while because of the new exciting blue ray which has come out.

  18. jalford12 says:

…apart from what’s previously been stated

Price – recorders are a lot more expensive.

  19. Adze says:

one dose not record, best buy a DVD record
that is hdmi capable, look on EBay to give you ideas.
    Cost £178

  20. mrjohnthejuggalo says:

dvd “player” only plays dvds while a dvd “recorder” records television onto a dvd disc

  21. kevin p says:

    recorders better

  22. The Special One says:

How much time have you got so that I can give you all the technical details?
DVD player: can only play DVDs.
DVD recorder can record onto DVDs & also play DVDs.

  23. Chris says:

Yeah the DVD recorder would be better if you can find one quite cheap. Also you sometimes get built in freeview with some DVD recorders so altogether a DVD recorder would be a better purchase. Try and find one with divx then you can download films from the internet, burn them to DVD then watch them on your main TV. ;-)

  24. phatty says:

They are going out of fashion anyway better off getting a DVD recorder/ player
