Is it safe to send a copy of credit card (back and front) by e-mail/fax for international online shoping?

I have placed an order for an electronic item online from US, but the online shop (www.tristatecamera.com) asking to send a copy of credit card (front and back side). Is it advisable to send it on safety reasons since credit card is very sensitive?
(Paypal account is not possible for an international order)

    It is a reputable US store. I don’t understand why they want a copy of your credit card. Why don’t use use your credit card to put money in a paypal account and pay them that way?
